My mother suffered from dementia the last 12 years of her life. Her family was committed to giving her as much quality of life as we could. This meant making it possible for her to live and be cared for in the family home
One of the keys to her care was Bowen work. Suzi came weekly and gave Bowen sessions, not only with Mom but with her friends and caregivers.
This dynamic worked on many levels. I believe that the work helped her cognitively. While her memory remained impaired and I can not quantify it, my and others observations were that she functioned and felt better.
Having group sessions helped to keep her connected socially and keep isolation and depression at bay
I have included a picture showing how Mom enjoyed family and social events. The overall benefit she received is enormous.
